WHEREAS:
- Whereas the World Zionist Congress is the democratically elected parliament of the Jewish people, charged with advancing the Zionist vision, strengthening the State of Israel, and nurturing the bonds between Israel and world Jewry;
- And whereas Mercaz Olami represents the Conservative/Masorti Movement within the World Zionist Organization and serves as the authentic Zionist voice of a Judaism that is halakhically grounded, morally responsible, religiously pluralistic, and deeply committed to democracy and human dignity;
- And whereas the 39th World Zionist Congress demonstrated the growing strength and influence of Mercaz Olami and its partners, reflecting broad support for a Zionism rooted in pluralism, equality, accountability, and shared responsibility;
- And whereas the resolutions (English version) adopted by the 39th World Zionist Congress (עברית) include several successfully proposed by the Conservative/Masorti Movement, including resolutions that:
- Develop religious pluralism and equal access to sacred sites, especially the Ezrat Yisrael prayer space at the Western Wall;
- Ensure equality in the recruitment and conscription plan of the Haredi community to the IDF/National Service;
- Strengthen Israeli civil society and support accountability and responsible governance, especially an independent State Inquiry into the failures surrounding October 7, 2023;
- And whereas these resolutions, and the additional resolutions that were passed and were defeated through our efforts, reflect core Conservative/Masorti commitments to צִיּוֹנוּת (Zionism), קדושת האדם (Human Dignity), צדק (Justice), שוויון (Equality), אחריות (Responsibility), and כל ישראל ערבים זה בזה (All Israel is Responsible One for Another);
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That the Rabbinical Assembly affirms and celebrates the achievements of MERCAZ Olami at the 39th World Zionist Congress and expresses gratitude to its leadership, delegates, and activists for advancing the values of Conservative/Masorti Judaism within the Zionist movement and for their service to the Jewish People and the State of Israel;
Be it further resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly affirms the World Zionist Congress resolutions, including, but not limited to, those that advance religious pluralism, protect non-Orthodox Jewish communities in Israel, strengthen democratic governance, and uphold accountability within Zionist institutions;
Be it further resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly calls upon its leadership, members, and institutions to publicize, educate about, and advocate for these (English version) adopted resolutions (עברית) of the 39th Congress of The World Zionist Organization, including through rabbinic teaching, communal programming, public engagement, and partnership with Mercaz Olami and Masorti organizations worldwide;
Be it further resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly confirms its commitment to partnership with MERCAZ Olami, its global affiliates, and the Masorti movement worldwide in strengthening Israel as a Jewish and democratic state and in advancing a Zionism rooted in pluralism, equality, accountability, and shared responsibility.
